Mission

The Berlin Community Farmers' Market will exist to pursue the following goals:

  • To provide a direct marketing opportunity for local producers of Wisconsin-grown agricultural commodities and other farm-related products.
  • To promote the sale of local home made or home grown products.
  • To provide an opportunity for the sellers (farmers/vendors/crafters/artisans) and people from the community to deal directly with each other rather than through third parties, and to thereby get to know and learn from each other.
  • To enhance the quality of life in the Berlin area by providing a community activity that fosters social gathering and interaction.
  • To promote and contribute to the vitality and diversity of Berlin’s local businesses.
  • To preserve Wisconsin's unique agricultural heritage and the historic role which farmers' markets have played in it.
  • To support the local agricultural base by seeking products that have been grown and processed in ways that protect and enhance the air, water, soil, wildlife, and biodiversity.
  • To support local growers who strive to produce products free of harmful pesticides; growers who are responsible stewards of the land and the environment in which we all live.
  • To expand the availability and variety of organic and natural foods that are fresh, full-flavored, unique, healthy, and nutritious to the Berlin community.
  • To create a place to educate consumers on health and nutrition issues, including how food is grown, produced, or processed.
  • To foster local and regional foodshed systems in order to support a commitment to mutual respect, fairness, responsibility and accountability from farmer through to consumer.
